With a storm on the horizon and calls for flash floods, hail, wind, and rain today, we opted for a trip a bit closer to home today. I had not been on the lower Madison in a couple of months, which is hard to believe. Temps have been high but it has been stable in terms of flows the last few days so we decided to give it a go. There are some tricks to fishing the lower once it gets warm and weedy as it is now. The bite is usually pretty good in the morning but plan on things shutting down by 1 or 2. May get a few fish here and there but its going to be stressful on the ones you do get to eat. Crayfish, lightning bugs, and a few hopper eats. Not quite as much bitchin' on my end today.
