I woke up this morning around 5 and spent 20 minutes trying
to tie 16 lbs. tippet onto a leader while being devoured by sand flies. Permit
showed up on the flat, gave me several good shots, but no eat. Another one
showed up and let me cast to it, no eat. Felt good about the day at that point
with no wind and clear skies. The feeling was better than the result.
Seemed like it should have been good, but the Permit never
showed up on the flats for us today. I am so sick of hearing people say
that “they are just being permit!”
I hand-lined some gray snapper up at the dock at the end of
the day…felt good about myself once again. Got bones on Clouser crayfish
though.
