The weather has just been amazing! I know I've been saying this for awhile now, but after the brutal heat of July...August has been terrific! The smoke from all the fires has been gone for over a week now. The Yellowstone is all open again, now we're just waiting for teh Lower Madison and teh Lower Gallatin to come off the restrictions whihc should be anyday now if FWP ever pays attention to the water temps there. The lower has been between 62-68 for 2 weeks now.
The Upper Madison has simply been awesome this summer. I've caught more fish over 20 inches this year up there than ever before. But the numbers of 12-16 inch fish are also great, making for plenty of action throughout the day. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming month as some of those huge fish from Ennis Lake start to make their way up the river.
Fishing has been great, so get out there!
