Worked the shop the last few days, but had the chance to get out on the Yellowstone today with my 6 year old son. We had a blast, caught a bunch of fish with Tenkara and enjoyed the time on the water together. He did all the casting, set the hook, and got them to the boat by himself and he was so proud it was just too cool! Just the two of us...It DOES NOT get any better.
The river is in great shape...like perfect. Saw no big bugs and floated high up in the valley. Fish are on the banks, in the high water buckets, and eating well. We just fished a single stonefly nymph about 4 feet below an indicator with no weight. Expect the Salmonflies to start in the next few days, assuming that the weather stays warm.
