I am going on the last day of the Somerset show here in NJ and then back to the Bozone…something I am very much looking forward to! The visit out east has been fun-filled with lots of new faces, sights, and experiences, but home is where I'd rather be!
Since last I blogged, I made my way from Boston to Connecticut via train, spent a night there with friends, and then to Manhattan, and then to NJ…all by train mostly. I haven't ridden trains or subways very much in my life, so those were adventures in themselves. I only took one subway ride in the wrong direction and managed several train switches without incident or run ins with the law. I did notice that homeless people seem to like train stations when it's cold. Newark Penn Station did not seem like the kind of place to spend a day.
But, I was quite impressed in ways with Manhattan…the museums were amazing, the 911 memorial was different than expected, and there is no shortage of really good food. On the flip side, there is a lot of people, a lot of cars, a lot of rank smells, and not much open space! Still, glad I went…might do it again in 15 years or so.
The Somerset show has been fun and busy. Lots of talking to lots of people about fishing and traveling in and around the state. So, I have been hearing and telling fish stories galore the last two days. Plus, there are a ton of interesting people and gear here at the show and everyone seems to be having fun. I bought an old Zane Grey book today and some great SW flies that I am looking forward to using in a month or so on the trip to Belize with my wife, who I am looking forward to seeing in a couple of days!

Toby,

I want some of those Big Bird flies. Just awesome - as you US folk say! I'm absolutely sure it would improve my casting, those wings gotta help!

When are you back in the shop?

John.
