Steven and I have been off the grid the last couple of days, fishing parts unknown which shall go unnamed. The rain hasn't stopped much in 3 days and we have been surrounded by misty fog from dusk 'til dawn. The river we have been on the last two days is as odd a trout stream that Ive ever been on before, narrow, slow, clear, and deep. The fish spend most of their time swimming in packs of 2-300 it seems about 30 feet in front of the boat downstream. They are terrified of the boat and save for a few grabs in the 20+ foot deep holes on little streamers, it has been tough. I don't know if Ive been on a stream with this clear of water outside of New Zealand to be honest. Nevertheless, we've had the region to ourselves for the most part, the surroundings are amazing, and the water keeps the mind wondering why most of the day.
We are picking up in the am and heading back towards Missoula for a few more days of guiding around there and then back home. It sounds like snow is on the way back in BA, so maybe this side of the divide is better right now, but I wouldn't mind being a gong adventure on the upper this week.
